The following is a quick list of characteristics for the latest worm virus to spread across the internet.

What: W32/Mydoom@mm. It is a worm virus (meaning, once a computer is infected the virus spreads on its own) that has two important features:

1. Opens a backdoor to your computer & computer network.
2. Sends a flood of information to the internet causing massive slowness to web sites.

How: opening the attachment sent by the virus.

Who: the virus can come from a familiar email address (someone you know) or from a random address not familiar to you.

eMail Subject Characteristics —
The Subject contains (but is not limited to) the following text:

Error, Status, Server Report, Mail Transaction Failed, Mail Delivery System, hello, hi

eMail Attachment Characteristics —
The attachment comes as (but is not limited to) the following names:

doc.bat, document.zip, message.zip, readme.zip, text.pif, hello.cmd, body.scr, test.htm.pif, data.txt.exe, file.scr
